Ostriches are the largest of the bird family. They can stand up to 9 feet tall (of course Darus and Simus were a bit larger than that). A full grown male ostrich can weigh from 150 to 330 pounds. But with all that size, they're also flightless birds. They use their wings for display during courtship rituals. The ostrich is the only bird that has two toes on each foot at the end of their long legs. Those long legs help them run. At full speed, ostriches can cover 16 to 23 feet per stride, and maintain 30 to 50 miles per hour for a whole 30 minutes!
