More of Lazoo's story
Lazoo was born on June 20th, 1965, in the warmth of his    mother's winter den.  For those of your keeping score, that   was forty-one years ago from this date.
Remember that Lazoo is very wise, and also very old.      Grizzlies seldom get past their thirties.  But all those years   have been kind to Lazoo.  He's still as virile as ever.
Lazoo was a big cub at birth.  It was immediately clear that he would one day be very strong.
And strong he was.  By the time the warmth of the spring sun hit the mouth of the cave, Lazoo was bouncing out into the brand new world.
Lazoo was always chasing one thing or another. A very brave and courageous cub, ready to explore anything new that came along.
By the time he was five, it was all his mother could do to keep him out of the river chasing yet another screaming, terrified trout, begging to be spared because they have a family upstream (they all said that).
"Lazoo, come away from there," Sylva said.
     "Just one more."
"You've had four already.  You'll ruin your supper."
Supper would consist of a healthy combination of berries, bugs and roots.  Lazoo ate until he couldn't even fit one more pill bug.  He lay back against a tree and let out a long, loud burp.
     "Lazoo," Sylva scolded.
     "Sorry."

During the four years that followed, Lazoo continued
to eat and grow.  But he did not grow fat.  With all his  running about throughout the years, he grew in muscle. Lazoo was quickly becoming the pride of Animal Land.
At five-months-old he weighed 35 pounds that first spring.    A good fifteen  pounds heavier than your average young cub.
Sylva, Lazoo's mother, stepped out of the cave into the bright sunlight.  She is much thinner now than when she went into the den last winter.  She has spent all that time caring and providing for Lazoo.  Now hibernation was over, and it was time to find something to eat.
"Come along, Lazoo," she called to him.
"Yahoo!" Lazoo cried, as he lept over a bush and chased after her.
